THE WORLD TREE & THE CROSS
This series explores ancient images and myths through the lense of christianity. By combining Norse motifs alongside bibilical meaning, we ask the question: What if myths and legends reach toward truths only paritally understood? Long before christianity spread to the North, people were already telling tales that reflected fragments of that deeper narrative. These paintings are where mythology, history, symbolism & faith interesect and showcase how ancient stories begin to look like the echoes of a greater one.
In the Beginning...
In the first silence of the cosmos,
A spark stirs against the void.
Between the spoken light from Genesis
And the primordial abyss of Ginnungagap,
A figure steps forward carrying light, strenth and
...a promise.

Mother Superior
Standing at the edge of the unknown, a lone she-wolf calls into the heavens. Her breath stirs the waters below, echoing the creation story...when spirit moved over the deep and life was spoken into existence. A tribute to the sacred breath that still moves through the wild in us all.

The Phoenix One
The phoenix is a symbol of death and rebirth. This mythical creature of fantasy lore represents Resurection...victory over the grave. Renewal, redemption and hope. Not all endings are the end of the story. Perfect imagery mixing myth, fantasy and christian symbolism.

SKÄL
Many do not know that the song 'Purple Rain' is about an apocolyptic, yet hopeful, 'cleansing' storm. A storm of love, faith and spiritual redemption at the end of the world.

Helm of Awe
This longship is breaking the veil between worlds. Its banner is the Helm of Awe; an ancient Norse symbol of protection. It is a shield of divine energy, pushing back evil. This vessel represents the soul under guardianship. Framed like a relic, it is both myth and prayer. A testament that protection travels with us even in the darkest waters.

RAGNAROK!
The Norse tale of RAGNAROK! is an apocalyptic story which mirrors Revelation. Fire, cosmic battles, and a new earth after the end of the age. A story of redemption, renewal and revival.
A reminder to fear not, the end is not the end, and have courage to slay your dragon.

Through the Bifrost
Crossing that radiant bridge known as the Bifrost echoes in to christianity as way to the greater kingdom. Like a passage from dark to light. We are carried across the divide to the eternal shore.
